Hydrotherapy at our Oakwood Surgery

Could your pet benefit from Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy is the use of physical movement through water to promote recovery and rehabilitation. It is also used to aid weight loss, gain muscle mass, and support the well-being of your canine companion.

Hydrotherapy’s main aim is to support mobility. By having a tailored exercise plan for your pet hydrotherapy can enable recovery from a wide range of conditions.

At our Oakwood Veterinary Surgery on Harper Lane close to Radlett & Shenley, we can now offer a state-of-the-art Hydrotherapy Aquatic Treadmill - specifically designed for our canine friends.

We have the ability to control the temperature of the water to help muscle recovery. Its also promotes blood circulation and relaxes body tissues. The water is important to support the patient, but also create resistance. More information on our hydrotherapy facilities can be found HERE.

Please contact us with any questions or ask us to arrange a referral to Oakwood Veterinary Surgery. There is ample parking at the surgery, and you are more than welcome to arrange a visit to see the facilities first if that would be helpful.

Vets For Change - reducing Rabies in Africa

One of our vets Lorna, has just returned from South Africa where she was participating in a mass Rabies Vaccination campaign. She is a member of the charity Vets for Change and dedicates her holidays to help eliminate Rabies from those areas where it is still prevalent.

Vets for Change were established in 2012 to support local communities, State organisations, NGOs and local charities with their specialist knowledge in organising, planning and executing vaccination and sterilisation campaigns.

This year with just a small team and budget, Vets for change, were able to assist the South African state vets and technicians vaccinate more than 13,000 dogs in Mpumulanga, an area west of the Kruger park; an area that is endemic with Rabies.

Even more importantly, the clients at Wood Street Vet Hospital and branches have supported them, by raising almost £100 in the blue change box at front desk. This may seem a small amount, but it vaccinated almost 500 dogs!

A big thank you to all our clients for their support. For regular updates, please see their website or Facebook page-  www.facebook.com/vets4change - and don't forget to donate if you can.
